Clinical evaluation of a new anti-diarrheic drug

Abstract
|
|
|
The purpose of this study was to assess the effectiveness of diphenoxine as an antidiarrheal agent and ?to record any side effect.
Diphenoxine was administered by tablets in dose of 1.5mg a day for 6 days in 32 patients with diarrhea of various origin at the outpatient clinic of Seoul National University Hospital.
The results obtained were as follows
1. Stool frequency and consistency were improved promptly, sometimes even dramatically.
2. The overall cure rate was about 90.6%.
3. Side-effects were extremely rare, or almost none.
4. Abdominal pain of the spastic nature was subsided on the day 1 or 3 after start of treatment.
